A bit about us

My name's Ollie,  I'm a beekeeper in Saltaire and with the help of my bees (and my wife Abi), I make honey.

I've always loved honey, but I was always more interested in eating it, than knowing much about where it came from.

My interest in keeping bees though, started while Abi and I were living out in New York. At the time of us moving out there it was illegal to keep bees in the city of New York – this bizarre law meant that there was an underground scene of secret beekeepers hiding their hives up on the roof-tops. After a year or two the ban was lifted, but unfortunately we weren't able to keep a hive on our roof in Brooklyn, so I would have to wait before becoming a beekeeper myself.

Now we're settled back in the UK, we've been fortunate enough to find a spot to keep some hives, and after enrolling on a great course run by the Leeds Beekeeping Association, we're keeping bees and making some delicious honey.

Abi and I are both graphic designers, so getting the chance to brand and design our own packaging was a dream and a nightmare at the same time, but we've ended up with something that we're proud of and that we feel does our bee's hard work justice.
